Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb beef sirloin steak
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves
  • 2 cups red cabbage
  • 4 pieces dumplings
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the 1.5 lb beef sirloin steak with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over high heat until sizzling, then sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove and rest on a plate.

  2. 2

Reduce heat to medium. Add the remaining 1 tbsp butter and 4 crushed garlic cloves to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant, scraping up any browned bits.

  3. 3

Pour in the 2 cups beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.

  4. 4

While the gravy simmers, warm the 4 dumplings according to package instructions (usually steaming or microwaving for 2-3 minutes).

  5. 5

Slice the rested beef thinly against the grain. Serve the beef over the dumplings, spoon the gravy over the top, and add the 2 cups red cabbage on the side.
