Ingredients

  • 4 pieces stroopwafels (store-bought)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups hot coffee or cocoa
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, then add brown sugar and stir for 1 minute until combined.

  2. 2

Remove from heat. Pour in cream and vanilla, stir until smooth, then sprinkle in sea salt and stir once more.

  3. 3

Pour hot coffee or cocoa into two mugs. Top each mug with two stroopwafels, letting them soften from the steam.

  4. 4

After 1 minute, gently break the softened waffles and stir them into the hot drink to melt and blend.

  5. 5

Drizzle salted caramel generously over the surface and into the mug. Serve immediately.
