Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dulce de leche or caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk flour, brown sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth batter forms, ~1 minute.

  2. 2

Heat a 10-inch nonstick skillet or waffle iron over medium-high until a drop of water sizzles, ~2 minutes.

  3. 3

Pour 0.25 cup batter into the skillet, spread thin with a spatula, and cook without moving until edges are golden and crispy, ~90 seconds.

  4. 4

Flip and cook the second side until light golden, ~60 seconds. Transfer to a plate.

  5. 5

Repeat steps 3–4 with remaining batter to make 3 more wafers. Each batch cooks ~2.5 minutes total.

  6. 6

Spread 2 tbsp dulce de leche on the inside of two wafers, press a third wafer on top. Serve warm.
