Ingredients

  • 1 head (~1.5 lb) green cabbage head
  • 6 oz ground beef
  • 6 oz ground pork
  • ½ cup white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can (15 oz) canned tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. 1

Core the cabbage and boil it whole in salted water for 5 minutes until leaves soften. Remove, drain, and carefully peel off 8 whole leaves.

  2. 2

Mix ground beef, ground pork, rice, salt, pepper, and paprika in a bowl until just combined—don't overmix.

  3. 3

Place 2 tbsp meat filling on the base of each cabbage leaf, roll tightly, and tuck in the sides like an envelope.

  4. 4

Whisk tomato sauce with vinegar and broth. Spread half the sauce across a sheet pan, arrange rolls seam-side down.

  5. 5

Pour remaining sauce over the rolls, cover tightly with foil, and bake at 400°F for 18 minutes until rolls are cooked through.

  6. 6

Remove foil and serve hot, spooning pan sauce over each roll.
