Ingredients

  • ¾ lb beef sirloin or ribeye steak
  • 1 lb frozen waffle fries
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 whole green bell pepper
  • 1 large tomato
  • ½ whole yellow onion
  • 2 tsp ground cumin, paprika, oregano (or Turkish seasoning blend)
  • 3 tbsp butter or olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Start rice: boil 2 cups salted water, add rice, cover, reduce heat to low, cook 15 min.

  2. 2

Place frozen fries on a large baking sheet, toss with oil and salt, roast at 400°F for 15 min.

  3. 3

Slice beef very thin against the grain (~1/8-inch). Pat dry with a paper towel.

  4. 4

Slice pepper and onion into strips; chop tomato into rough pieces.

  5. 5

Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high. Brown beef slices in batches, 1–2 min per batch, remove to a plate.

  6. 6

In the same skillet, sauté pepper, onion, and tomato until soft and slightly charred, ~4 min. Return beef to skillet with cumin-paprika blend, toss to coat, season with salt and pepper.

  7. 7

Divide rice, fries, and doner beef mixture among plates. Serve hot.
