Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons sesame paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, combine the 4 tbsp sesame paste, 2 tbsp chili oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, and 1 tsp sugar. Stir until smooth and well blended.

  2. 2

Gradually add the 2 tbsp water, stirring constantly, until the sauce reaches a pourable, creamy consistency. Add more water a teaspoon at a time if too thick.

  3. 3

Taste and adjust seasoning: add a pinch of salt or extra chili oil if you prefer more heat. The sauce should be savory, tangy, and spicy.

  4. 4

Sprinkle the 1 tsp sesame seeds over the top just before serving. Use as a dip for dumplings, a sauce for noodles, or a dressing for blanched greens.
