Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a bowl, cream 1/2 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  2. 2

Beat in 1 egg until combined. Stir in 1 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder until a soft dough forms.

  3. 3

Place 1/2 cup sesame seeds on a plate. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in sesame seeds to coat.

  4. 4

Place balls 2 inches apart on a baking sheet. Flatten slightly with your palm. Bake until edges are golden, about 12 minutes.

  5. 5

Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Cookies will crisp as they cool.
