Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, cream the 0.5 cup softened butter and 0.75 cup brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Beat in the 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

In a separate bowl, whisk the 1.5 cups flour, 0.5 teaspoon baking soda, and 0.25 teaspoon salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

  5. 5

Fold in the 1 cup chopped pecans. The dough will be thick.

  6. 6

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake until edges are golden, about 10-12 minutes.

  7. 7

Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
