Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup yellow onion, finely minced
  • 1 whole fresh red chili, minced
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3 tbsp hot sauce (or chili sauce)

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix ground beef, minced onion, minced chili, flour, and tomato paste in a bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper.

  2. 2

Form mixture into 8 balls about the size of golf balls, then gently flatten each into a thick puck.

  3. 3

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 90 seconds.

  4. 4

Add frikkadels to the pan without crowding—work in batches if needed. Sear 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

  5. 5

Transfer cooked frikkadels to a plate. Stir hot sauce into any pan drippings, then drizzle over the frikkadels.

  6. 6

Serve hot with the sauce, a squeeze of lemon, and crusty bread or rice.
