Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon zest
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 4 leaves mint leaves

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups whole milk, 1 cup heavy cream, and 3/4 cup sugar. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is steaming but not boiling, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

Remove from heat and stir in 2 tbsp lemon zest and 1/2 cup lemon juice. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency, about 20-25 minutes.

  4. 4

Transfer the gelato to a freezer-safe container and freeze until firm, at least 2 hours. Serve scoops garnished with 4 mint leaves.
