Ingredients

  • ¾ lb lamb, diced into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1.5 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1.5 tsp biryani masala or garam masala
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ cup frozen peas

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse basmati rice under cold water until water runs clear, then drain.

  2. 2

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Brown lamb, stirring often, until no pink remains, ~6 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and biryani masala, cooking until fragrant, ~60 seconds.

  4. 4

Add yogurt and stir to coat the lamb evenly, then add rinsed rice and broth.

  5. 5

Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook on medium-low for 12 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

  6. 6

Stir in frozen peas, cover for 1 minute, then fluff with a fork and serve hot.
