Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 4 sheets nori sheets
  • 1 medium, julienned carrot
  • 4 oz cooked protein (e.g., ham, beef, or imitation crab)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the 2 cups cooked rice with 1 tbsp sesame oil and 0.5 tsp salt; mix well and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

Lightly sauté the 1 julienned carrot in a dry pan over medium heat until slightly softened, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread 1/2 cup rice evenly over the sheet, leaving a 1 inch strip at the top.

  4. 4

Layer the carrot and 1 oz protein in a line across the rice. Roll tightly, wet the bare strip with water, and press to seal.

  5. 5

Slice each roll into 6 pieces with a sharp knife. Serve immediately or pack for lunch.
