Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 whole egg
- ½ cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup fruit jam (plum, raspberry, or apricot)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- 1
Mix flour, egg, milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- 2
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead 3 times, then roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 8 circles using a 3-inch glass or biscuit cutter.
- 3
Place 1 tbsp jam in the center of each circle. Fold dough in half, seal edges firmly by pressing with your fingertips.
- 4
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (test with a breadcrumb: it should sizzle instantly and brown in 60 seconds).
- 5
Fry 3–4 pączki at a time for 90 seconds per side until golden brown. Do not crowd the pot. Transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate.
- 6
Dust warm pączki generously with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
