Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups cooked rice

Instructions

  1. 1

Finely chop half the onion and mix with the 1 lb ground beef, 1 egg, 0.5 cup panko, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Form into 2 oval patties.

  2. 2

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Cook the patties until browned on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  3. 3

Thinly slice the remaining half onion and cook in the same skillet until soft, about 3 minutes.

  4. 4

Stir in the 1 cup beef broth and 2 tbsp ketchup, scraping up any browned bits. Bring to a simmer.

  5. 5

Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer until cooked through, about 10 minutes. The gravy should thicken slightly.

  6. 6

Fry 2 eggs in a separate pan until the whites are set but yolks are runny, about 2 minutes.

  7. 7

Serve each patty over 1 cup rice, spoon with gravy, and top with a fried egg. Add a side salad if desired.
