Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, cream the 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  2. 2

Beat in the 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whisk the 2.5 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  4. 4

On a floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into Halloween shapes with cookie cutters.

  5. 5

Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
