Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef or lamb, boneless
  • ½ cup wheat berries
  • ½ cup yellow split lentils (chana dal)
  • 1 medium onion, finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

    Soak wheat and lentils in water for 2 hours, then drain.

    In a pot, heat oil and fry onions until golden; set aside half for garnish.

    Add ginger-garlic paste and meat; brown on all sides.

    Add soaked grains, turmeric, salt, and water; bring to a boil.

    Simmer covered on low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

    Shred the meat and whisk the mixture until thick and porridge-like.

    Stir in garam masala and top with reserved fried onions and greens.

    Serve hot, garnished with microgreens and dark leafy greens.
