Ingredients
- 6 count fresh whole sardines, cleaned and gutted
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp coarse sea salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 whole lemon

Preheat grill to high heat, about 450°F. Pat sardines dry with paper towels.

Coat sardines inside and out with olive oil. Season generously with sea salt and black pepper.

Grill sardines 3–4 minutes per side without moving. Skin should blacken; flesh should flake easily at thickest point.

Transfer to a plate. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and serve immediately.
