Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 7 tbsp cold butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ tsp salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

  2. 2

Cut 5 tbsp cold butter into small cubes and work into flour with your fingertips until mixture looks like coarse sand.

  3. 3

Fold in cheddar and parsley, then add buttermilk and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

Drop 6 golf-ball-sized portions onto a sheet pan spaced 2 inches apart. Bake 12–14 minutes until golden brown on top.

  5. 5

Melt remaining 2 tbsp butter with minced garlic in a small saucepan over low heat until fragrant, ~2 minutes.

  6. 6

Brush warm biscuits generously with garlic butter immediately after they come out of the oven. Serve hot.
