Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 6 tbsp butter, cold and cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Mix flour, cheddar, minced garlic, and 1 tsp salt in a large bowl.

  2. 2

Add cold butter cubes and pinch the mixture with your fingers until it looks like coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

Pour buttermilk into the bowl. Stir just until a shaggy dough forms — don't overmix.

  4. 4

Drop rounded 2-tbsp portions onto a sheet pan, spacing them 2 inches apart.

  5. 5

Bake 12–14 minutes until edges are deep golden brown and tops are set.

  6. 6

Serve hot. They're best eaten fresh from the pan.
