- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 tbsp butter, cold and cubed, divided
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp baking powder

Preheat oven to 425°F. Mix flour, cheddar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.

Cut 6 tbsp cold butter into the flour mixture with your fingertips until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs.
