Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, dill, chives)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir in the 1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs.

  2. 2

Pour in the 1/2 cup milk and stir with a fork until just combined; the batter will be thick and slightly lumpy. Do not overmix.

  3. 3

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the batter by rounded tablespoons into the boiling water, making about 8 dumplings. Cook until they float to the surface and are cooked through, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and divide among 2 plates. Top each serving with 1/4 cup sour cream and a sprinkle of extra chopped chives if desired.
