Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 6 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 whole large eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup pecan halves

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch cast iron skillet or baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Melt butter and chocolate together in a microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth and glossy.

  3. 3

Whisk sugar and eggs together until pale and thick, about 2 minutes, then fold in chocolate mixture.

  4. 4

Sift flour with salt and a pinch of cocoa powder into the chocolate mixture. Fold gently until just combined.

  5. 5

Pour batter into skillet and scatter pecans over the top, pressing lightly to anchor them.

  6. 6

Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set but center still jiggles slightly. Cool 3 minutes before slicing.
