Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • ½ cup dried currants
  • ¼ cup almonds
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    In a bowl, mix currants, chopped almonds, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    Roll out puff pastry and cut into 4 equal squares.

    Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each square.

    Brush edges with beaten egg, fold corners to center, and pinch to seal.

    Turn seam-side down, flatten gently, and brush tops with egg.

    Sprinkle with granulated sugar, cut slits, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
