Ingredients

  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 1.5 cups neutral oil for frying
  • ½ cup jam or savory filling (optional)

    Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high until a pinch of dough sizzles on contact, ~3 minutes.

    Tear fist-sized pieces of dough, gently flatten into rough discs, and slide into the hot oil.
