Ingredients

  • 2 shots (or 3 tbsp strong brewed coffee) espresso
  • 8 fl oz whole milk
  • ½ tsp (optional) sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Pull two shots of espresso into a ceramic cup, or brew 3 tbsp strong coffee.

  2. 2

Pour milk into a metal pitcher. Submerge steam wand just below surface, tilt pitcher, and steam until milk reaches 150–155°F and froths to 1/4-inch layer.

  3. 3

Tap pitcher on counter to pop large bubbles. Swirl milk gently until glossy.

  4. 4

Pour steamed milk into espresso in a thin stream, tilting cup. Hold back foam with a spoon, then cap with a pour to create latte art.

  5. 5

Serve immediately while the foam is still intact.

Tools you’ll need

  • espresso machine with steam wand OR milk frother
