Ingredients

  • 1.25 lbs white fish fillets (cod, halibut, or sea bass), about 1.25 lbs
  • 1 can (14 oz) canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp harissa paste
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • ¾ cup roasted red peppers (jarred), sliced
  • ¾ tsp cumin
  • 1 whole lemon (halved)

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, ~90 seconds.

  2. 2

Add garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Stir in harissa and cumin, then add crushed tomatoes and roasted peppers. Simmer for 3 minutes.

  4. 4

Season sauce lightly with salt and pepper. Lay fish fillets on top; they should nestle into the sauce.

  5. 5

Cover, reduce heat to medium, and simmer until fish is opaque throughout, about 6-8 minutes.

  6. 6

Squeeze lemon over the fish. Serve hot with crusty bread for soaking up the sauce.
