Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup whole milk, warmed
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened, divided
  • 8 whole cardamom pods, crushed, seeds only
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 tbsp pearl sugar for topping

    Mix flour, warm milk, 2 tbsp butter, cardamom seeds, 1 tbsp sugar, and pinch of salt until shaggy dough forms.

    Knead dough on floured surface until smooth and soft, about 4 minutes — it should feel supple but hold its shape.

    Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a 12-inch rope, then twist into a loose spiral on a parchment-lined sheet pan.

    Brush braids with remaining 2 tbsp melted butter, then sprinkle with remaining 2 tbsp sugar and the pearl sugar.
