Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened, divided
  • ¼ cup almond paste
  • ¾ cup mixed dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, candied peel)
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 whole egg yolk
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

    Mix flour, warm milk, 2 tbsp butter, yeast, and egg yolk in a bowl until shaggy dough forms, ~2 minutes.

    Knead in mixed fruit, then shape into a disc on a sheet pan. Press almond paste into the center, fold dough over, and seal.

    Brush with remaining 2 tbsp melted butter. Let rise at room temperature for 10 minutes while oven preheats to 375°F.

    Bake for 16–18 minutes until golden brown and a skewer inserted in the thickest part comes out clean.

    Cool for 2 minutes on the pan, then dust generously with powdered sugar until completely covered.
