Ingredients

  • 2 cups camel milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
  • 1 medium apple
  • 4 fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small saucepan, melt 1/4 cup sugar over medium heat until amber, about 5 minutes. Immediately pour into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom.

  2. 2

In a bowl, whisk together the 2 cups camel milk, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, 3 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth. Pour the mixture over the caramel in the dish.

  3. 3

Place the dish in a larger baking pan; add hot water to reach halfway up the sides. Bake until the flan is set but jiggles slightly in the center, about 35-40 minutes.

  4. 4

Remove the flan from the water bath and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully chilled.

  5. 5

To serve, run a knife around the edge, invert onto a plate, and let the caramel sauce flow over. Top with 2 tablespoons pine nuts, thin apple slices, and 4 mint leaves.

  6. 6

Slice and serve chilled. The caramel will be liquid and the flan silky smooth.
