Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 1 tbsp yeast, 2 tbsp sugar, and 1 tsp salt. Add 4 tbsp softened butter and 3/4 cup warm water; stir until a shaggy dough forms.

  2. 2

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Shape into 4 equal balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.

  3. 3

Cover the buns with a damp towel and let rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes, until slightly puffy. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F.

  4. 4

Brush the risen buns with a little water or milk, then sprinkle 2 tbsp sesame seeds evenly over the tops. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.

  5. 5

Let the buns cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
