Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1.5 cups feta cheese, crumbled
  • 8 sheets phyllo pastry sheets
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 375°F. Have phyllo sheets ready at room temperature.

    Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering.

    Add diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 4 minutes.

    Add ground beef and cook, breaking up with a spoon, until no pink remains, ~5 minutes.

    Remove from heat. Stir in crumbled feta and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.

    Brush a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil. Layer 4 phyllo sheets, brushing each with oil.

    Spread meat-cheese mixture evenly over phyllo. Layer remaining 4 sheets, brushing each with oil.

    Brush top sheet with remaining oil. Score diagonal lines across the surface for portion guides.

    Bake 15–18 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
