Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1.5 cups milk (whole or 2%)
- 2 whole eggs
- ¼ cup maple syrup or honey
- 1.5 cups fresh or frozen berries
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- 1
Set the oven to 375°F and wait until the indicator light tells you it has finished preheating, about 10 minutes.
- 2
Add the rolled oats, milk, eggs, and maple syrup to a large mixing bowl in that order.
- 3
Whisk all the ingredients together with a fork until the eggs are fully broken up and the mixture is uniform with no white egg streaks visible, about 30 seconds.
- 4
Fold in the berries by gently stirring them into the oat mixture with a rubber spatula until they are scattered evenly throughout.
- 5
Rub the butter all around the inside of an 8×8-inch baking dish so it coats the bottom and sides completely, about 30 seconds.
- 6
Pour the oat mixture into the buttered baking dish and use the back of a spoon to spread it in an even layer covering the bottom.
- 7
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15–18 minutes, until the top looks set and slightly golden, with the edges a deeper golden brown color.
- 8
Remove the baking dish from the oven using oven mitts and let it rest on the countertop for 3 minutes before serving—this sets the structure and makes it easier to cut.
- 9
Cut the oatmeal into 4 equal squares using a knife, then use a spatula to lift each square out of the dish onto a plate.
