Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tbsp ginger, peeled and minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp berbere spice blend
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced into wedges
- 1 medium red onion, sliced thin
- 1 tbsp chili peppers, fresh (or dried red chili flakes)

Pat beef dry. Mix ginger, garlic, berbere, and chili into a paste with 1 tbsp water and 2 tbsp oil.

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high until it shimmers, about 1 minute.

Add beef in a single layer. Sear without moving for 2 minutes until browned, then stir and cook 2 minutes more.

Add the spice paste and toss beef to coat evenly. Cook for 2 minutes until fragrant and beef is cooked through.

Warm rice in the skillet alongside the beef, stirring gently, for 1 minute.

Plate the awaze beef and rice, then arrange fresh tomato wedges and raw onion slices alongside. Serve hot.
