Ingredients

  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the 2 cups milk, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until smooth.

  3. 3

Add the 4 cups bread cubes and 2 chopped apples to the bowl. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.

  4. 4

Pour the mixture into the prepared dish. Let it sit for 10 minutes so the bread absorbs the custard.

  5. 5

Drizzle the 2 tablespoons melted butter over the top. Bake until the top is golden and the center is set, about 35-40 minutes.

  6. 6

Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
