- 2 medium apples
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 whole star anise
- 1 large egg

Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out the 1 sheet puff pastry on a floured surface to a 12x10 inch rectangle.

Peel and core the 2 apples, then slice thinly. In a bowl, mix apples with 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.

In another bowl, soften the 4 oz cream cheese with 1 tbsp sugar. Spread the cheese mixture over the pastry, leaving a 1 inch border.

Arrange the apple slices over the cheese. Fold the pastry edges over the filling and roll up tightly, sealing the seam.

Beat the 1 egg and brush over the strudel. Place the 1 star anise on top for flavor. Bake until golden brown, about 25-30 minutes.
