Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 375°F. Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet in the oven while it heats.

  2. 2

Whisk softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Add egg and stir until combined. Fold in flour and salt until just mixed, then fold in chocolate chips.

  4. 4

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and press dough into it in a single, even layer.

  5. 5

Bake for 12–14 minutes until edges are golden brown but the center still looks slightly underbaked.

  6. 6

Cool for 2 minutes in the skillet, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
