Ingredients

  • ½ lb store-bought pizza dough or naan
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup onion, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 whole lemon, divided (juiced + wedges)
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens (lettuce, tomato, onion)
  • 8 fl oz ayran or plain yogurt drink

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up with a spoon, until no pink remains, ~5 minutes.

  2. 2

Stir in minced onion and tomato paste, cooking until onion is soft and mixture darkens, ~2 minutes.

  3. 3

Season beef with salt, pepper, and half the lemon juice. Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. 4

Roll pizza dough into a thin oval (~1/4-inch thick). Heat a bit of oil in the skillet over medium-high.

  5. 5

Place dough in skillet and cook 2–3 minutes until edges curl and bottom starts to crisp.

  6. 6

Spread beef mixture evenly over dough. Flip and cook 1–2 minutes until bread is golden and crispy underneath.

  7. 7

Transfer to a plate. Toss greens with remaining lemon juice and salt. Serve lahmacun with salad, lemon wedges, and cold ayran.
