Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 slices ginger

Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, mix 1 cup glutinous rice flour with 0.5 cup water until a soft dough forms. If too sticky, add a little more flour; if too dry, add a splash of water.

  2. 2

Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get around 12 balls.

  3. 3

In a pot, bring 2 cups water, 3 tbsp brown sugar, and 2 ginger slices to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then reduce to a simmer.

  4. 4

Drop the rice balls into the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until they float to the surface and look slightly translucent.

  5. 5

Serve warm in bowls, with the ginger slices removed if desired.
