Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ⅓ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup heavy cream, divided
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 lb russet potatoes, peeled
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 selection fresh vegetables (mashed potatoes sides: cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, green beans)
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. 1

Cut potatoes into 1-inch chunks. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, ~12 minutes. Drain well.

  2. 2

While potatoes cook, mix ground beef, panko, 3 tbsp cream, and salt and pepper. Form into two thick patties.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tbsp butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high until it foams. Sear patties 3 minutes per side without moving. Transfer to plate.

  4. 4

Mash hot potatoes with 2 tbsp butter and 3 tbsp cream until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Pour broth into the pan over medium heat. Stir in mustard and scrape up browned bits. Simmer 2 minutes until glossy.

  6. 6

Arrange patties, mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables (sliced cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, steamed green beans) on plates. Pour gravy over patties and serve.
