Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 fillets anchovies (optional, minced)
  • 12 oz frozen potato wedges
  • 2 whole sandwich bread or buns
  • ¼ cup tartar sauce

Instructions

  1. 1

Spread potato wedges on a sheet pan, toss with a pinch of salt and pepper, then roast at 425°F for 18 minutes.

  2. 2

While potatoes roast, combine ground beef, cream, egg, and minced anchovies in a bowl. Mix gently until just combined.

  3. 3

Form beef mixture into two thick patties, each about 3 inches across. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Heat butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high until it foams. Sear patties 3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  5. 5

Remove patties to a plate. Pour 0.25 cup cream into the skillet, scraping up browned bits, then simmer 1 minute.

  6. 6

Toast buns lightly, spread with tartar sauce, add patties, then serve with potatoes and sauce on the side.
