Ingredients

  • 6 pieces chicken legs (thighs + drumsticks)
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup packed fresh cilantro
  • 1 whole lime
  • 1 whole jalapeño
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil

    Pat chicken legs dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper on all sides.

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering. Sear chicken skin-side down 4 minutes without moving until golden.

    Flip chicken. Pour BBQ sauce over top and reduce heat to medium. Cook 12-15 minutes, occasionally basting, until internal temp hits 165°F.

    While chicken cooks, roughly chop cilantro and jalapeño. Blend with juice of 1 lime, 1 tbsp water, and a pinch of salt until chunky.

    Transfer chicken to a plate, spooning any pan sauce over top. Serve with cilantro chutney on the side.
