Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1.5 tbsp berbere spice blend
  • 1 small red onion, cut into thick wedges
  • 1 whole fresh jalapeño, sliced

Instructions

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until it shimmers, about 90 seconds.

    Add beef cubes and sear without stirring for 2 minutes until edges brown, then stir and cook 2 more minutes.

    Add garlic and ginger, stirring constantly for 30 seconds until fragrant.

    Sprinkle berbere over the beef and stir to coat evenly, cooking for 1 minute.

    Toss in red onion wedges and jalapeño, cooking 2-3 minutes until onion softens and beef is cooked through.

    Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve immediately while beef is still juicy.
