Seasoned ground beef stuffed into pita, griddled until the bread is golden and crispy outside while the meat stays juicy inside. A Lebanese street-food classic that feels indulgent but takes just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ¼ medium, finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp, chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 pieces (6-inch) pita bread
  • ½ medium, diced tomato
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Brown ground beef with diced onion, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until no pink remains, 5–6 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in allspice, cinnamon, parsley, salt, and pepper. Cook 1 minute until fragrant, then remove from heat.

  4. 4

Cut each pita in half horizontally to create a pocket. Stuff each pocket with beef mixture and diced tomato.

  5. 5

Return skillet to medium-high heat. Place stuffed pita halves cut-side down and cook 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.

  6. 6

Serve hot, optionally with tahini sauce or lemon wedges on the side.
