Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (8 oz) crusty bread (baguette or ciabatta)
  • 4 oz jamón serrano, sliced paper-thin
  • 1 large ripe tomato
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½ tsp (combined) salt and black pepper

Instructions

    Slice the bread into 1/2-inch-thick rounds on the diagonal.

    Toast the slices in a dry skillet over medium-high heat until golden and crispy, about 90 seconds per side.

    Halve the tomato crosswise and rub the cut side onto each warm toast until it soaks in.

    Drape jamón serrano over each slice, then drizzle with olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
