Ingredients

  • 1 loaf dark rye bread
  • 1 loaf white bread
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 6 oz Danish cheese (havarti or similar)
  • ½ whole red onion
  • ¼ cup fresh dill or parsley

Instructions

    Slice both breads into 0.5-inch-thick slices. Arrange 4 slices on a board, alternating rye and white.

    Spread butter generously on each bread slice. Layer thin slices of cheese on top of each.

    Thinly slice the red onion. Scatter over cheese along with fresh dill or parsley.

    Serve immediately on the board with extra bread slices on the side.
