Ingredients

  • 8 oz ahi tuna, sushi-grade
  • 4 whole tostadas (crispy tortilla shells)
  • 1 whole avocado, ripe
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, white or mix
  • ½ cup salsa roja (store-bought)
  • 1 tbsp salsa macha or chili oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat ahi tuna dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

Heat oil in a skillet over high heat until it shimmers, about 1 minute. Sear tuna 90 seconds per side without moving.

  3. 3

Transfer tuna to a cutting board. Slice into 1/4-inch-thick strips. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.

  4. 4

Halve the avocado lengthwise, remove the pit, and slice the flesh into thin strips.

  5. 5

Arrange tostadas on a plate. Layer avocado slices, then seared tuna strips on each one.

  6. 6

Drizzle salsa roja and salsa macha over the tops. Serve immediately while tuna is still warm.
