Ingredients

  • ¾ lb beef chuck or sirloin, diced
  • 4 whole garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth or water
  • 1 cup bean sprouts, fresh
  • 1 whole lime, halved

Instructions

    Mince garlic and ginger together into a paste.

    Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high. Add garlic-ginger paste and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

    Add beef and brown, stirring occasionally, breaking apart with a spoon, ~5 minutes.

    Pour in soy sauce and broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a steady simmer for 10 minutes.

    Stir in bean sprouts. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Squeeze lime into the pot.

    Serve hot with steamed rice, krupuk, sambal, soft-boiled egg, and extra lime on the side.
