Ingredients
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 5 whole eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt

Heat 1/4 cup sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high, swirling (don't stir) until amber, ~4 minutes.

Pour caramel into a loaf pan or small baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside.

Blend remaining sugar, milk, condensed milk, eggs, vanilla, and salt until smooth, ~1 minute.

Pour custard mixture over caramel. Place dish in a larger pan filled with hot water halfway up the sides.

Bake at 350°F until custard is set at edges but center still jiggles slightly, 12–14 minutes.
