Ingredients

  • 1 sheet (about 9 × 10 inches) puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. 1

Set the oven to 400°F and wait until the indicator light or beep tells you it has finished heating, about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon, sugar, and salt together by stirring with a spoon until evenly combined.

  3. 3

Place the thawed puff pastry sheet on a cutting board with a long edge facing you.

  4. 4

Brush the melted butter all over the surface of the pastry sheet with a pastry brush or the back of a spoon until it is thinly covered.

  5. 5

Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly across the buttered pastry, covering the entire surface.

  6. 6

Starting at the long edge nearest you, tightly roll the pastry toward the far edge, like rolling a poster, until you reach the end.

  7. 7

Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled pastry crosswise into four equal pieces, each about 2 to 2.5 inches wide.

  8. 8

Place the four pastry spirals flat-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  9. 9

Brush the beaten egg over the top and sides of each pastry spiral with a pastry brush until evenly coated and shiny.

  10. 10

Slide the baking sheet into the oven and bake at 400°F until the pastries are puffed and the surface turns deep golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.

  11. 11

Remove the baking sheet from the oven using oven mitts and place it on a heat-safe surface to cool for 2 minutes before serving.
