Ingredients

  • 6 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup diced deli ham
  • ½ lb smoked sausage, sliced into thin half-moons
  • ¼ lb ground beef
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (canned)
  • 1 large dill pickle, sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • ½ medium yellow onion, diced

Instructions

    Heat broth in a large pot over medium-high heat until steaming, about 2 minutes.

    Add diced onion, ham, sausage, and ground beef. Stir to break up the meat and distribute.

    Simmer uncovered until ground beef is no longer pink and flavors meld, about 8 minutes.

    Stir in canned tomatoes with juice, sliced pickle, vinegar, salt, and black pepper to taste.

    Simmer 4 more minutes until pickle flavor settles into the broth and soup is hot through.

    Taste and adjust salt, vinegar, and pepper. Serve hot, ladling plenty of broth into each bowl.
